Ouch, I had to dig out $279.99 from the emergency fund to replace my old cpu with a new Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz Desktop Processor! @.@
Sigh, what to do? My old 1.60 GHz cpu simply refused to work anymore. According to hubby’s buddy, replacing it with a used motherboard would actually bring it back to life, but I had to wait for at least two weeks.
Unfortunately after waiting for more than 3 weeks, this buddy still couldn’t get any used motherboard for my old cpu. Well, I gave up! Instead of waiting for another week or even longer, I told hubby that I wanted to buy a new one. Besides, I had had enough of sharing a computer with hubby!
From the beginning, I was clear that my budget for a new cpu would be within $300. You know, the list price for my new Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz cpu was $629.99! If it hadn’t had 56% discount and a savings of $350, I tell you, there’s no way I could afford it.
I did wish that my old cpu had crapped out during last year or this year‘s Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Christmas time! I would have saved even more money because of great deals during this time. ^.^
Okay, back to this new desktop processor! As I am not a computer builder nor I know much about the assembly of a computer, I let hubby’s buddy help with choosing the right cpu and doing the setup and installation for me.
Before browsing through the product details with hubby’s buddy, I told him that I needed a processor that could smoothly and responsively when editing high-definition videos, touching up family photos, or splicing up music. No hiccups or slowdowns.
So, how has the Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz 8M L3 Cache LGA1366 Desktop Processor been performing? Well, the new system has been performing much better than I have hoped!
